ACCN Homepages Website Information
Tips
|
1. Choose the colour of your Homepages Website to compliment your business stationery.
A similar look and 'feel' appears more professional.
2. When looking at ways to highlight information, do not use a lot of different colours in the text. It can be hard to read, and can appear 'un-professional'
3. Remember to make your website easy to read
• eg dot points instead of a lot of paragraph text
4. Consider that each time a person needs to click to a new page, there is a possibility of losing that visitor.
Most people only read the first two paragraphs of an article. Make that interesting
5. Ensure Contact information is easy to find and use.
6. Target your website to your prefered couples and families
• What photos will appeal to them, what style of language etc ?
• Think about those who may only read your Home page.
• Think about those who do want more information
7. Consider carefully the photo/ image used for yourself.
A picture tells a thousand words - what does yours say about you?
Be careful to ensure that the image is not 'deceptive' - or you risk wasting your own time and potential couples or families time - with 'bad press' as a consequence.
8. Read through the whole of this website, BEFORE staring work on your own.
9. Do a draft of your website in your Word Program.
10 Copy the text in your Word Program to save as a Text File with line breaks
OR save in your email program. This avoid wasting time from losing your work from connection / website time-outs.
Then copy and paste in the relevant pages.
This is because some software programs like Word, add hidden code that can affect your ability to manipulate text.
11. Regularly SAVE your work on the Home Pages website
12. Get feedback from others about the
• spelling
• grammar
• content
• relevrance
• clarity
• layout
• look and 'feel' of each page and your website overall.
