So you've decided to get married. Wow, how exciting...... firstly, congratulations, but what comes next.................. OK here it is in steps.
Find a celebrant:
I suggest you talk to a few and see who you are both comfortable with (that's important) Meet with your celebrant to fill in the notice of intended marriage and discuss venue, fees, type of ceremony etc.
Notice:
A Notice of Intended Marriage needs to be lodged a calendar month and a day
• before the date of your wedding
• with the celebrant you choose
Documents:
You must be over the age of 18 years and not legally married to any other person anywhere.
To verify this you will need:
• Birth Certificates (if Australian born, essential) or Passports
• Divorce or Death certificates if you have been married before
These must be Originals or Certified Copies - NOT photocopies
Witnesses:
You need two people over the age of 18 to act as witnesses.
